When shy won’t do

Bill created this piece to fit between two doors in a very large hallway with vaulted ceilings. Working with the Pemaquid, Maine, couple who commissioned it, he settled on a classic Federal style because, as he puts it, “We needed to make sure it wasn’t shy. It had to have a presence.” The case is mahogany, with swirl mahogany on top. The drawers, which were dovetailed by hand, feature curved fronts made of tiger maple. The pulls are brass. So, when you need a piece that’s not shy, Bill will be happy to build it.
