Seymour inspired

Bill has long admired the work of legendary furniture builders John and Thomas Seymour of Boston, makers of some of the finest Federal-period furniture. Their use of sharply contrasting woods and veneers showcases the beauty and craftsmanship.

Several years ago, there was an exhibit of their work at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. This was the final inspiration Bill needed to design and build this diminutive desk secretary. He used walnut, crotch walnut, tiger maple, and birds-eye maple in order to bring about the feel of the Seymour pieces. This desk is a perfect piece to use when practicing the nearly lost art of letter writing.
